About me

I hold a Masters in Marine Sciences and a PhD in coral reef ecology. For the past few years, I have been working  on range of  projects, including socio-ecological resilience, illegal marine trade, marine protected areas, interactions between dugongs & sea-grass meadows, dolphins and coconut crabs. While most of my work has been in Andaman & Nicobar islands, I have also worked in  Lakshadweep, at Grand island in Goa, in Dwaraka in Gujrat, Gulf of Mannar, Netrani in Karnataka and the last but not the least, Angria Bank in Maharashtra.

Currently I work with Wildlife Conservation Society and I head their marine program  where I share responsibility for research, capacity building, funding, partnerships and outreach to ensure activities of the program on five core areas i.e., coral reefs, marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries, marine mammals, and sharks and rays.
